I offer face-to-face and online counselling for adults, walking with you as you learn and grow and heal.
Hi, I’m Alice and I am an integrative counsellor providing talking therapy. I offer a warm, relational space to come and talk things through when life feels overwhelming, depressing or stuck. It may be that you are struggling with grief, with family relationships or with patterns that you don’t know how to break.
Counselling is a unique experience for each person. It is a relief to be able to share ourselves freely, including the parts that are difficult to share in other spaces. It gives us time to think about our life and our choices and our way forward.
There is profound self-discovery in counselling; finding out that so many of the ways we respond and the decisions we make are rooted in patterns that formed earlier on in life. We begin to realise how much is now in our power to choose differently and change.
When we begin to understand ourselves, we begin to be able to have compassion on ourselves and on others. This brings freedom and strengthens the core of our sense of identity.
I am passionate about the vocation of counselling, and the healing that can come through the honesty, compassion and insight that open up in the counselling space. I combine experience as a therapist with experience as a teacher, working part-time as a lecturer on a BA course, helping develop trainee counsellors to become the very best practitioners they can be.
I offer a free 15 minute ‘get to know you’ session — and whether it’s me or another person you feel drawn to work with, go with that inkling.
I incorporate concepts from the three main psychotherapeutic approaches of Person Centred, Psychodynamic and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. I love to lean into the imagination, metaphor and the symbolic — I understand these as the language of the heart. I also find that somatic therapy, attuning to the understanding the body holds, takes us deeper. We are each filled with resources that help towards healing, and so it is about finding out together how to draw towards that creative flow.
I lecture on a BA counselling honours degree, and gained a distinction in an integrative Masters degree in Counselling. I am an Accredited Registrant of the NCPS (National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society) and abide by its ethical guidelines. I also hold a Masters from the University of Cambridge.
I am committed to ongoing professional development and undertake courses frequently to widen and deepen my professional insight and range — for example: working somatically, working with anger, creative therapies, and working with spiritual abuse.
I offer a limited number of concessionary rates for people who can only afford a reduced fee. These are in high demand and new spaces are occasional.
